Inherited this model a few months ago and as with most big Japanese amplifiers the specs and build quality are superb.
As for sound quality though, this can only be described as average at best. The two most obvious weaknesses for me is the bass, which lacks definition and punch and a smoothing off of leading edge transients in the upper mid/lower treble giving an overly smooth presentation. No matter what cd/speaker combination I tried both these traits were all too obvious.
If you're looking for a second hand amplifier with a good sound quality i'd be inclined to avoid this one.

Great amp. Plays everything smooth and without any distortion. High level build quality. It is a Sony, but it might as well be any high end vintage audio brand.
