I have had this Sony cassette deck for a couple years now. It works very well and considering its age, the sound is flawless. Too bad it does not have HX Pro, but compared to other decks I have and previous ones I have owned, it sounds just as good.

Only few quirky things, which don't really affect the sound: 1. Cassette door opens kind of noisy. 2. Motor is just slightly noisy; drop of electric motor oil made it a bit more quiet. 3. Bias adjust does not apply to Metal tapes, I find that rather strange, but I have not had any issues, as, even the High Bias tapes I've recorded on haven't required much if any adjustment.

I like the solid metal construction of this unit, there is minimal plastic. It's built like a tank, quite a good showing from Sony engineers.

Not reliable. Developed many problems at the 8 year mark. But it was nice while it worked. $300 to fix it.
