Not all of Sony’s full size cassette decks have a great reputation but the TC-K611S from 1993 was one of the stand outs. It needs higher quality chrome or metal tape for best results and that might make it less of a good buy if you just plan to play pre-recorded tapes, but for home recorders it’s a solid three head deck with Dolby S and the potential for remote operation if you have the handset.
Totally justifies its price, reliability is good sound!

Good looking machine, ergonomically excellent, slick controls, makes very good recordings on chrome tape.
Downside would be the build quality of the transport.
My own machine seized solid one month out of warranty with probably less than 100 hours on it.
If considering buying one listen for a slight ticking noise as it plays tapes, that's the noise that preceded it locking up.
I give it 3/10 overall, a balance of 8/10 for its performance and 1/10 for reliability.

re: TC-K611S

There are more than a dozen TC-K decks in use here. Besides TC-K620 the TC-K661S is a joy to use, sounds good and needs very little maintenance. The CAL-feature works fine and allows the use of a multitude of cassette types. Above all, the unit operates silently and can be controlled by several SONY remote control handhelds.
