Just a quick note regarding transport and shipping. I received one of these units recently, a serviced unit that was sent in perfect working condition and packed very well for transport. However on receiving the machine, it was decidedly erratic. I have experienced similar issues with full-auto turntables and CD-players. This was not a temperature issue. I don't think a humidity issue. If you experience arratic door mechanism, FF/RW, and Capstan noise after stop is engaged, don't panic. Just keep running the machine and it should calm down providing it is a serviced unit. give it a chance to run and warm up and only after this can you properly adjudicate the state of the machine. These things are loaded with sensors. This advice refers to machines that have just endured transport via couriers that might not have been so careful with your machine.

very good sound and settings for calibration.nice display but today sold mine because buy a 870es.that is a litle better than 770 but booth is perfect machine... :-)

A smooth,detailed and neutral sounding tape deck.
Definitly better sound than most top-decks from the pre
cd era and at least better sounding than equal priced
nakamichis at the time the K770 was in the program.
Build quality is good. It must be mentioned that the tip
buttons logic control for the drive seems to be a weak
spot because it likes to fail suddenly after decades of
