re: TC-RX606ES

same here, Have a unit that powers up and wants to run, but powered cassette door will not open. A cassette is in and will not play Anybody knows how to fix it?

re: TC-RX606ES

Aside from the usual collection of belts there is a rotary encoder which is turned by the cam in the transport. If the deck has been unused for a period of time the contacts may have become corroded and are not able to tell the electronice where the cam is and weather it is safe to open the door. Look on page 15 of the service manual to locate S1001, that is the rotary encoder. If you take it apart note the location of just about everything around the cam. The location of the cam followers is important. Put it back together wrong will only make things worse. Remove the cam and clean with Deoxit and exercise the cam well to clean the contacts. Check motors that have a gear pressed on to the shaft, sometimes the gear will split and lose its grip on the motor. Superglue will not fix this as the gears are nylon or some other self lubing material. Good Luck.

Have a unit that powers up and wants to run, but powered cassette door will not open. Don't wish to force it, and have not opened the unit up yet. Anyone seen a similar problem? Worked well previously.

re: TC-RX606ES

My cassette door open/ close button is not working as well . The component that houses the cassette door is making all kinds of noise as well .
