re: TC-WE635

This was a great sounding tape deck with any recorded cassette tapes and especially prerecorded "purchased" tapes. It also recorded well regular and hi speed dubbing. Pitch control was a nice feature I rarely used. My deck worked great for about 6 years with daily use and regular maintenance. Then one day it started eating tapes while playing, then ff and rw wrecked some tapes, eject failed...Eventually both wells made loud horrid noises and ceased all ability to function as a tape deck. This was the forth Sony cassette deck of mine that the same issues occurred. Later I acquired a tc-k555es which lasted less than 10 hours. Later I acquired a tc-wr900 and that too developed similar issues.
I was quoted around $200 each for repair to replace belts and motors (if available).
All and all.... Sony cassette decks sound great while they work (obviously) but the reliability factor is poor.....that is in my experience owning many black models. However my Silver Sony tc-k6 sounded the best and functioned the longest out of them all. The tc-fx25-had inherent issues too.
Basically Sony cassette decks suck.
