Surprising quality !!

A good machine ! Had it when i was in High School but at the time , i was recording my tapes with bad EQ and Level adjustements , so i wasn't able to tell if this Walkman was a good machine or not ..

I bought a new one on Ebay a week ago and the first thing that surprpised me was his Clear sound , especially with good earphones and a well recorded Tape . I use it with Sony MDR-V150 Headphones and honestly , when i listen a tape , i can hardly make a difference in sound between this Walkman , or listening it on my stereo system with the Sony headphones (Technics RS-TR575 cassette deck hooked on a Pioneer VSX-D307) . The sound quality is as good on both . Hard to believe when you think that this model of Walkman wasn't even a ''Professional'' model .

And even without a Dolby switch (on this model), the tape noise is hard to notice when you listen a tape on a acceptable volume level . But in the same time , i consider the ''Tape type Selector'' like a kind of ''pseudo'' Dolby switch , and it works with all types of tapes (I , II or even IV ) .

Finally , it's a very good Walkman ... even for a low-end model !
