Since about 30 years i am listening music with mine T225 of Tannoy. They sound mostly great for all kind of music. They are driven by a Yamaha AX-592, which is a good combination. (with the old amp, Luxman L4, they sound a little dull) Only organ music with a lot of low, there is a lack of detail. At the other hand, they sound smooth, never agressive. In mine opinion, they are the best speakers you could get for the mony (f 845,- = about €400 ) at that time.

re: T225

Hello,

I got them as second hand purchase in 2017 in France (they are no so commun in France). So they are 40 years old. They were in good conditions, but it was necessary to dismantle the speaker for membranes centering and gap cleaning.

Then, now they are OK, and used with a tube 10 Watt amplifier, Audio-Note Kit Four.

The result is very very good, never agressive. The main advantage is to get a very focused and accurate stereo image (if the record played allow it). This is the consequence of all frequencies coming from only one location, the center of the speaker. This is a real advantage, no doubt on that point.
They are very dynamic, not compressing sound, allowing very low frequencies. The high bass range is well detailed too, this is a very good point as it is the most difficult range to explore on an Hifi system. The medium range is very pleasant and coherent too. On some occasion only, may be, the treble range could be out of control with transistor amplifier.
No, really, the main advantage is the realistic stereo scienery, giving you the impression to look at the TV screen when listening music.
Great, very well done and very seroiusly manufactured !
