Ordered a new drive belt and this thing plays like a dream. I may be a bit biased because this is my first reel to reel, but tearing into it made me appreciate the build quality, engineering, and features. Impressive today, can only imagine how it was back then.

Good, sturdy and very heavy deck. Just pulled it out of storage after 40 years and it started right up. Got the ugly portable version but it has the same features as the nice wooden sided one.
re: A-1500
Bought from a thrift store in 2013, been in storage since then, took it out and cleaned it up and unit works great. Very well built unit and heavy. planning on doing a complete restore(caps etc.) in the future but right now just enjoying the great sound.

Hi Ronald. I read your review and I would like to know if you would be willing to share some of your experience on re-building the unit; i.e. where is a good place to purchase replacement parts? I also would like to know which parts I should look at. I bought this unit way back in 1970 when I was in the service. I don't have any of the cables or the dark cover for the front, but I would like to get it operating again. Would you be willing to help an old timer out?
