The TEAC 3300SX is built like a tank and providing it has not been abused, should offer decades of trouble free working life. The output boards are reasonably easy to upgrade or if your wanting to use an outboard amp, such as the Bottlehead Eros tapehead preamp, the tapehead cables attach to the bias board via RCA connectors, so easy to reconnect to an outboard amp. Sound wise, this TEAC replay tapehead is pretty damn good if not too worn and does deserve better or fully upgraded p/s and tapehead amplifier electronics. I have used Panasonic FM caps and audio quality PRP brand resistors. The sound is fantastic, clarity is second to none, no hum, very little electrical noise at all. With good 'Master' quality tapes, you are very close to the musicians indeed.

I just scored a 3300SX at a yard sale for $5, including the 2 big reels. Wasn't sure if it would work but took a chance, it obviously had not been used in a while. Hooked it up when I got home and - it works! Works quite nicely, it will probably be better than my other two R to Rs after I clean it, lube it and demagnetize it. I like the system on this one for making the reels stay in place. Had to download the manual to figure it out.

This is a reasonably nice machine. Transport is solid, the idler arm does not like sticky tape at all and does a dance. But good tape, it works great. Reasonably quiet machine. I use DBX type I in front of it and it is dead silent. I paid about $500 for mine and did not have to put any work into it besides lubing and cleaning pots and switches.

Not quite as good as my A3440 but then again like most people I really only need 2 channels for stereo playback. $700 but works like a dream and looks nice when parked next to the A3440. Great build quality

re: A-3300SX-2T

Hello all, I have a A-3300SX-2T master recorder, it has on the head cover TEAC A-3300SX-2T Multitrack Series. What does Multitrack Series mean? Being that this is a 2 track machine.

re: A-3300SX-2T

Multiple or multi - means more than 1
The unit records 2 tracks at once, 2 is more than 1...
