This unit is a real problemsolver and proved to be a sound transparent device. Even after all these years it's well up to the task!

We used a chain of two SH-9010 to
- reduce low frequency room resonance(s)
- flatten the (measured) speaker response
- fine tune sound to our subjective linking
- avoid DSP usage in a completely analog set-up

The unit appeared transparent when switching it into or out of the signal chain (using the amp's tape connections). We observed no loss of fine dynamics, no additional noise, it was surprisingly inaudible.

From experience it is adviseable to not use Equalizers without knowing a well founded reason why and to measure the effect (at least as a sanity check). When this is done properly the never again without it feeling is very probable. Also, if employed subtely and properly, this device may deminish the desire for a new tonally different speaker pair.

We are subtracting one point because 5 PEQs per Channel are rather few, which can quickly lead to compromises and therefore two units (or two SH-9090) may be needed, as in our case.

This is an excellent equalizer, the ability to adjust the frequency as well as the slope makes this equalizer really outstanding. For size, flexibility and ruggedness it has no peers. It has five sliders per channel which for most applications is sufficient.

fwiw, I believe it inverts polarity

thought that should be on the record
