Bought one second-hand, some 10 years ago, as I felt the need to acquire some back-up players for the reserve.

I knew what to expect, neither did I know what to expect. The player came with no remote control, the player had scratches, even paint stains on it, basic white indoor wall paint. Even so, the sound did not fail me: I knew what to expect as for the sound. The SL-PG490 makes a delicately refined sound, with rather analogue tone to it. Beats the beans out of a bunch expensive, high-end players I have listened to. Also, the mechanism has proved highly reliable: every now and then I use this player, and despite of the age she works like a swiss-made watch.

I own, have owned several CD player models by Technics, and this one I consider one of the best, comes it to the sound.

This is a very CD-disc player, with top quality M.A.S.H. D/A converter. This is nice German made sturdy built hifi equipment. I have owned one for many many years now and haven't feel sorry about it. This was a serious effort behalf of Technics, as it was still vivid hifi brand and still in good health. This CD-player wasn't cheap to buy... But you got good quality CD-disc player with that money, so money well spent I think... :)
