I've owned on of these since the early 90's & it has been in storage for many years after I assumed I was upgrading my system by buying some more up-to-date components, namely a Marantz Pearl Lite SACD player.
After reading recently about the reputation of 'high end' Technics CD players from the early 90's, I decided to dig it out & give it another go.
I've got to say that I'm absolutely astonished how this player stands up to and in my opinion, outperforms some more current 'high end' CD players !
In short, it sounds amazing. The sound-stage is outstanding & it picks up even the minutest musical detail which I've never noticed before. I have it hooked up to a Marantz Pearl-Lite amplifier & a pair of Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3 speakers.
I have noticed that this player can now be picked up for between £180-£300 & would heartily recommend picking one up (assuming you can find one in good condition) as it easily comes close and maybe even surpasses the performance of some modern players costing £1000+ !
So ... seek one out and enjoy !

Bought a PS900 back in 1992 and I am still using it...
Never had any issues with this superb cd player.
I have used it a lot and the mechanics still work smooth and perfect. The sound is one of the best I’ve ever heard from a cd player.
How many cd’s still work perfectly after 27 years!?
I think you have to pay + 2000€ today if you what the same quality.
So if you can get your hands on a fine PS900 - buy it!

Bought it when they came out. Haven't heard a better one to date. Simply the best, as others have stated. I own a couple of others, but the new stuff sounds thin/flat compared to these.

re: SL-PS900

This is a superb equipment. Even a 2000 US dollar brand new CD players can get today a similar quality. Or do you have a similar quality CD mechanism ? No way.
