re: SU-800

TECHNICS Class A amplifier, SU-800 2018.
Spec’ Check. [30 yrs on from manufacture]
Test Kit:
7.7Ω + 7.7Ω 100 + 100-Watt dummy load. [ audiosystems]
Microvoltmeter TM3B. * 1Hz to 3MHz range [Levell Instruments]
Dual beam scope 465. [Tektronix] (fed from TM3B output)
Signal source: Desk output. [Sound check CD2 Alan Parsons / Adobe Audition CS6 / Edit suite 1]
PM 5132 Function generator (set to sine) [Philips]
Only Main output considered. Loudness OFF.
Input = Aux. [ & tuner / tape] (Virtually no switch or control noise.)
L & R driven simultaneously – measured below clipping – at psu limiting. Very clean sine shape: careful study on scope.
Power output L = 46.8 watts [full Volume @1KHz sensitivity =140mV]
R = 51.9 watts [i.e. chnl match within ½ dB]
Volume set to full / no input. [reference 20V rms into 7.7Ω]
Signal to noise ratio L = - 90 dB [HF content - C = weighted -92 dB]
R = - 88 dB [HF content - C = weighted -90 dB]
Power band with at - 3dB ±1dB 10Hz – 40KHz stepped: Also, on sweep 20Hz 20KHz. [*after getting the correct range* !!]
Phono input sensitivity = 2.5mV @ 1khz for full output. [50Ω source]
Signal to noise ratio = - 62 dB L & R – 62 dB [input open circuit]
Signal to noise ratio = - 66 dB L - 64 dB & R – 68 dB [input 50Ω] Signal to noise ratio = - 64 dB L & R [I/P Shure M75 not optimised for 50Hz hum but seen on ‘scope] very useable!

re: SU-800

I own this amp + matching CD player (SL-P230) but i'm looking for the matching tuner... I have found an ST-Z250L online but not quite sure if it's the correct "look" to match these two beautiful devices. Any help?

re: SU-800

I may have blown a fuse... on the left input... I can still hear the sound when I turn on the sound to near max... any way to reset this device? or change fuse?

re: SU-800

There are no fuses on the inputs.And there are too many options.Try to swap RCA cables.Red and white-change positions(white with red,and red with white).If now you hear left,and right is gone...it's good. Replace RCA cable.If not...This is step "A".Try it-it's easy.Step "B"-later.
Wanna know what's happen.:)))
