re: SA-320

One of these (SA-320) was donated to us to sell for a charity...
It was said to have "no FM"... not a good start!
Checked it out... problem was intermittent band-switch. Cleaned with Deoxit. FM is back, but AM is intermittent! Switch still a problem... may be worn. This switch looks like a cheap copy of the well known, usually reliable wafer switches seen in most vintage gear... no way to service it.
Unit works OK if band-switch is turned carefully, then left in a working state.
AUX and phono work OK, these switches also OK.
The case is decent plywood, but the finish is a poorly adhering plastic. Some was flaking off, so I scraped it back to the more adhering parts then spray painted the scraped parts to more or less match... looks a bit better now.
Good news: the speaker DC offsets were only 11 and 24 mV... quite good (anything under 50 mV is OK.)
No measurements of AM or FM sensitivity were done, but they seem OK.
This unit is only 15 wpc with 0.8% THD... not a good audio specification.
Overall, this unit is not up to the quality of other AM/FM receivers I have... e.g. Sansui, Sony.
It will be disposed of accordingly!
