Very good sound quality. Runs cool. Drives 2 sets of 8 ohm speakers without issues and the sound is warm and smooth.

Price is right for a good entry level audiophile amplifier for those not wanting to take out a second mortgage to have good sound!

Powerful amp you won't be disappointed!

I am pleased with this integrated amplifier. I bought it new and have used it regularly for several months. I like the ability to set this amp to accept speakers with impedance from 4 ohms to 16. It also allow you to run two sets of speakers at the same time. This is nice when you are trying to evaluate two sets of speakers. This amp also has phono direct and cd direct switches that allow you to by pass the tone control function of the amp. The 100 watt per channel rating is probably accurate. For normal phono listening I rarely exceed 30%. I like this amp as I do not detect any distortion and the sound from my speakers(JBL 3 ways) sounds natural and crisp. Acoustic guitar sounds so good you could almost identify the make and model with close listening. I think the only downside to this model is the lack of a subwoofer outlet.

re: AX-596

AX-596 is perfect amp. It got a German award as best top middle range amplifiers. The sound clean and detailed.
Disadvantage is the front panel could be done looked better.

powerful, natural and crisp

I like this unit. Yamaha has a distinctive sound and it's not for everyone. The sound is hard to describe I should say just like Yamaha describes itself the sound is pretty natural and crisp. If you get used to it it sounds really good. The unit is pretty powerful. It can run 2 set of speakers at the same time without compromising the power. I use 32 bit 384khz DAC with it and sounds amazing. It's an entry level audiophile amp. I recommend it.
