Delicacy, power and finesse all in one component. Absolutely beautiful to look at and listen to, the CR-2020 is both beauty and the beast. This vintage receiver NEEDS to be serviced to perform properly. There are heat issues that need to be addressed on the power supply, but once the service bulletins are performed, be prepared for a lifetime of wonderful sound.

I actually think 10/10 would be more fair, but I want to leave some headroom. I have owned dozens of amps and receivers over the years. For overall combination of quality, features and performance none beats this one. Natural Sound? Absolutely; one of easiest to listen to receivers ever. Quality? 40 years old and is perfect just like new. Power? Tons of it. Best of all? I love the variable loudness compensation that allows the listener to find the perfect tonal balance at any volume level. I wouldn't trade this old Yamaha for anything.

A co-worker gave me this beauty because it had a blown channel and had been sitting in a closet for over a decade! (I was the last stop before the trash!) It just needed a good cleaning and the service bulletins needed to be done. I think this is the most beautiful receiver I've ever seen! And the sound... WOW! Very clean and dynamic! It has become my main receiver!!!

re: CR-2020

This receiver is fantastic. I bought it in 1999 from a friend. Didn't know what I had. This thing is a beast. It sounds great and with the manual I downloaded here I will now know how to operate it properly. Thanks Hifiengine~
