Excellent amplifier, easy to maintain, powerful. Ensure the preamp is empirically tested to cope with the 200pF input capacitance. Some devices with suitable output stages, like the older iPod 4G classic (perhaps best described as the thick one with the small screen and large round button) were found to drive it directly with great extension and surprising beautiful sound.

I have the Yamaha M85 power amp which has very exact specs as the MX1000U and these amps kick serious butt with loads of power! Audiophile quality.

re: MX-1000

I am very fortunate to have the MX-1000 as my main speaker amp, Two M-65 amps for the centers and rear, (I am working on fixing the extra two M-65 amps), and an M-45 for the surround speakers. It is really sweet seeing all those amps dancing lights in a stack. There is a true quality in the sound that I just have not found with the many other amps I have tried. These Yamaha classic amps are a must have for any audiophile!
