This is a decent sounding older receiver, but it is far from amazing. It has plenty of power and decent specifications, but that is it. Channel separation is not great, and it is neither transparent (e.g. Onkyo TX-DS595) nor musical (e.g. Nikko Alpha III). Overall, there are plenty of better receivers out there, such as Onkyo TX-DS595, Yamaha RX-V995, and Denon AVR-3802, to name a few.
