re: RX-V995

I acquired a used RX-v995. I cleaned and lubed it. Works great! IMO: this receiver sounds better for 2-channel music rather than video surround sound home theater applications. There are many options for 2-channel listening and with bass management. The v995 is easy to use and very user friendly, all functions are operational from the unit (thats good since I don't have the remote control). Sound is authoritative, plain, powerful, and listenable for long time periods. However the unit does run hot so it needs lots of air. Conclusion: it's a nice receiver, great sounding receiver, and a receiver thats 100 watts per channel and with a damping factor of 160 (which is high (higher DF=better) compared to other brands, especially Sony) and can handle 4 ohm speakers.
A keeper.
