The sound of those guys is good. The bass isn't super strong but for some kind of music like jazz sounds natural. The tweeters are a little annoying as the frequency is too high, even is you switch the controls at the back. Mids are the best in those speakers... but the best of the best, the vintage looking!

Very well made speaker. Not neutral, but made for vinyl (cuts out ticks and pops). Bass is criticized, but is adequate for acoustic music.
Not the most engaging speaker, but a decent laid back sound.
I'm currently running it through a Nikko Alpha II power amp rated at 120 watts per channel, so I would take the 1200's power rating of 60 watts very conservatively.

How are the wooden front covers attached? Afraid to pull too hard, but feels like there's velcro? Or a couple of pins?
re: SP-1200
My SP-1200 Sansui speakers have 1 screw in each of the 4 corners. Very small black screws about an inch long going thru the cloth. Hard to see even up close.
re: SP-1200
Look for a screw under the net (or tag), I remember that's treaky.
re: SP-1200
What type of screw? Phillips or Blade?
